GIVING AWAY

Scripture Text:  Rom. 1:1-2, Jn. 12:24-26, Jn. 3:16, Eph. 5:25

"Bless those who gave and bless those who did not have it to give."  We have all heard this phrase used, and many of us have used it ourselves when called upon to thank God for an offering. But let us take a closer look at what we are really saying.

The intent of the request is good and honorable, but the fact of the matter is that EVERYBODY HAS SOMETHING TO GIVE!  What each of us has is more precious than silver and gold -- we have OURSELVES. This is what God truly wants (Rom. 12:1-2). When He gets our jobs, our marriages, our social life, our future, our ministry, our pocketbook, and our time -- He gets us!  Fully and completely.

We've all heard the term, "sacrificial offering."  Well, that's just what God wants from us.  Sacrifice means DEATH. Death to MY goals, death to MY ways, death to MYSELF. Giving ourselves away costs us EVERYTHING -- but we lose NOTHING!  All that is committed into His hands is safe and secure because God is more than able to take care of His own things.

Prayer: God, into Thy hands I commit MYSELF and all the things that come with me. I place myself into your loving care. I place myself at your disposal. I GIVE MYSELF AWAY. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
